Adobe Acrobat Reader Alternative – The Best PDF Readers

Are you still using Adobe Acrobat Reader to read the pdf files? If so you are missing out on other free pdf readers available out there, and since I have been using these I have never downloaded the Acrobat Reader anymore. In my opinion Acrobat PDF Reader is really heavy and freezes a lot, even in my computer which has 4Gb of memory, so I was looking for a few alternatives to Adobe Acrobat Reader, so I found Foxit and PDF-XCHANGE Viewer, they are both really light and even a MMX 200mhz are able to run them without a problem.
In my humble opinion these two are the best pdf readers available nowadays, the download is small, is less than the 20 Mb from acrobat reader, Foxit for instance, has only 3 Mb. PDF-Xchange is a bit bigger because it has support for 64 bits system, that’s a good call for those (like me) that is using windows 7 x64.
I think it is the first pdf reader for x64 based systems, and don’t worry if you don’t get this, because it will install the version which works best on your computer, if your computer is X86(32 bits) then it will install the 32 bits version of the PDF Reader, but if you are using an operational system which is X64 (64 bits), then it will install the 64 bits version of the pdf reader. Either way, all you have to do is to download it and install without worrying.
So from these 2 adobe acrobat reader alternatives, my favorite is by far, PDF Xchange-Viewer, simply because it has support to whichever operational system I’m using, be is 32 bits or 64 bits, and it loads really quick, doesn’t make my machine slow, I have opened 10 ebooks at the same time with PDF XChange Viewer for X64 Operational Systems and it didn’t freeze at all, now try to do this with Acrobat Reader.
I really like fast things, that’s why I always look for alternatives to my softwares, if they are free and fast, even better! So if you ask me which one of the 2 alternatives is the best, without a doubt, PDF XChange Viewer…
You can download the installer using the following links:
Download PDF Xchange Viewer (For Windows XP, Vista 32bits & 64bits, Windows 7 32bits & 64 bits).
Download Foxit PDF Reader (For Windows XP, Vista 32Bits, Windows 7 32 bits).
Now if you want a portable pdf reader you can download the portable version of PDF XChange:
Don’t know what portable pdf reader means?
It means you won’t have to install it in order to use it, all you will have to do is to unpack the file and click twice on the exe file and you’ll be able to read pdf files without a problem and without having to install the software.
I don’t know if you’ll have to open the pdf file using the file menu, because I like to install the pdf reader so the pdf files open just by clicking on them twice, but it may ask you to set the PDF Xchange portable as your Default PDF Reader, if it does ask, just click in yes and you’re done.
I hope you have enjoyed this post on the best PDF Readers, if you liked it, please post a comment, share your ideas!
