My Dream PC Configuration For Gamers – 2009

I’ve control over what my visitors type on the search engines to get to my website, and one of the most used keywords was a PC configuration for gamers, as the technology changes a lot and fast! I’m going to make a list of how I would like my computer to be at the present time if I had enough money and necessity to buy it:

High End Computer (Expensive but awesome):

Motherboard:

MSI Eclipse SLI Desktop Board

Getting this motherboard you wouldn’t have to think about a computer upgrade so soon! It supports up to 24Gb of DDR3 memory and also supports the newest Intel Processors, i7.

MSI Eclipse

MSI Eclipse

Processor:

Intel Core i7-920 2.66GHz

Why I would choose intel over AMD? I was a huge fan of AMD processor before I had the money to buy a computer with Intel processor, there are a few people that considers AMD over Intel, but I really have had a good experience playing Battlefield 2142 at the maximum with an intel processor while still listening to winamp songs on the background, heck yeah!

Memory:

OCZ Technology Platinum 12GB DDR3

I may be overreacting here, but with 12Gb of memory you wouldn’t have to worry about memory anymore!
And I’m really fond of OCZ memories, that’s the one I use on my pc but I only have 4gb now!

Video Card:

VDO 1792MB PCI-E GTX 295

Seriously, this video card is like a bully! I have seen a few reviews online and gosh there isn’t comparison!

Hard Drive:

2x Western Digital WD1500AHFD Genuine Western Digital Raptor 150 GB 10K RPM 16MB Buffer

Since they have “only” 150Gb I would get two of them, but their lack of storage make up for its speed, a RAID 0 with suck HDs is awesome!

Cooling Solution:

Swiftech MCX-4000T + 92mm Tornado

That would keep the processor chill! :-)

Free Spyware Removal Download Now

Windows Firewall icon in Windows Vista

Image via Wikipedia

There are few free spyware removal out there, but some of them aren’t as good as you may think, as you may know some of the free softwares out there must lack update because they aren’t earning to keep on work with their software, some of them are even discontinued.

The free spyware removal software that I have used a bunch of times is SpyBot, I don’t know if you have heard of this one yet, but it is really truthful, haven’t let me down not even once.

But of course you may want to use an antivirus software with your spyware removal software, even thus some antivirus like NOD32 and Kaspersky already have a inbuilt anti-spyware software which protects your computer without having to install a bunch of other software.

But if you are on a short budget or don’t really care about it too much, then you’ll be fine with Spybot and the windows firewall, spyware aren’t harmful as viruses, spyware as the own name says, spy your activities, like websites you visit, how long you stay online and so forth.

All in all you would also have installed an antivirus, firewall & spyware removal software.

Best Antivirus Software For Windows In 2009

NOD32

Choosing the best antivirus software for windows must be a hard task for beginners, since they don’t know which one to choose due to their lack of knowledge in computers. In this post I’m going to share my experience with 5 antivirus I have used, and why I stuck with a paid one.

First antivirus I used was AVG, it was free and apparently everybody was talking about it as the best one ever. So it became paid a few years ago, there is still a free version available, but it’s better to stay away from it since it doesn’t offer a good protection as the paid one does, all it does is to protect your computer from viruses and I have my doubts if it protects your computer really well, since it is free and to have “full protection” you have to buy it.

Then I begun to use Avast, all I can say it is really annoying and detects even what is not viruses, so I uninstalled it a few days after I install it… The computers on my college use this anti-virus and every pen drive we put into the USB port Avast says it has a virus.

Kaspersky, one of the best I have ever used, but it is paid and warns about everything.

NOD32, that’s the one I stuck with since it doesn’t seem to slow down the computer and doesn’t have those annoying pop ups every time it detects a threat, it works on the background and I must do my work and chill out because I know it is removing any malicious files that it does detect.

Norton Antivirus, once upon a time norton antivirus software was the best antivirus available, because there were no competition, now I don’t install norton antivirus here, but people may still like it, those who got a computer in 2000.

Panda Internet Security 2009
It’s evolving pretty fast and it’s without a doubt one option to consider, but it is paid too.

Now to the price comparison chart of the 2 Best Antivirus Softwares for Windows in 2009:

Adobe Acrobat Reader Alternative – The Best PDF Readers

Latest PDF File Icon

Image via Wikipedia

Are you still using Adobe Acrobat Reader to read the pdf files? If so you are missing out on other free pdf readers available out there, and since I have been using these I have never downloaded the Acrobat Reader anymore. In my opinion Acrobat PDF Reader is really heavy and freezes a lot, even in my computer which has 4Gb of memory, so I was looking for a few alternatives to Adobe Acrobat Reader, so I found Foxit and PDF-XCHANGE Viewer, they are both really light and even a MMX 200mhz are able to run them without a problem.

In my humble opinion these two are the best pdf readers available nowadays, the download is small, is less than the 20 Mb from acrobat reader, Foxit for instance, has only 3 Mb. PDF-Xchange is a bit bigger because it has support for 64 bits system, that’s a good call for those (like me) that is using windows 7 x64.

I think it is the first pdf reader for x64 based systems, and don’t worry if you don’t get this, because it will install the version which works best on your computer, if your computer is X86(32 bits) then it will install the 32 bits version of the PDF Reader, but if you are using an operational system which is X64 (64 bits), then it will install the 64 bits version of the pdf reader. Either way, all you have to do is to download it and install without worrying.

So from these 2 adobe acrobat reader alternatives, my favorite is by far, PDF Xchange-Viewer, simply because it has support to whichever operational system I’m using, be is 32 bits or 64 bits, and it loads really quick, doesn’t make my machine slow, I have opened 10 ebooks at the same time with PDF XChange Viewer for X64 Operational Systems and it didn’t freeze at all, now try to do this with Acrobat Reader.

I really like fast things, that’s why I always look for alternatives to my softwares, if they are free and fast, even better! So if you ask me which one of the 2 alternatives is the best, without a doubt, PDF XChange Viewer…

You can download the installer using the following links:

Download PDF Xchange Viewer (For Windows XP, Vista 32bits & 64bits, Windows 7 32bits & 64 bits).

Download Foxit PDF Reader (For Windows XP, Vista 32Bits, Windows 7 32 bits).

Now if you want a portable pdf reader you can download the portable version of PDF XChange:

Download PDF Xchange Portable

Don’t know what portable pdf reader means?
It means you won’t have to install it in order to use it, all you will have to do is to unpack the file and click twice on the exe file and you’ll be able to read pdf files without a problem and without having to install the software.

I don’t know if you’ll have to open the pdf file using the file menu, because I like to install the pdf reader so the pdf files open just by clicking on them twice, but it may ask you to set the PDF Xchange portable as your Default PDF Reader, if it does ask, just click in yes and you’re done.

I hope you have enjoyed this post on the best PDF Readers, if you liked it, please post a comment, share your ideas!

What’s the best and fastest internet browser?

If you are using internet explorer, you would be better by using another browser, must of people recommend using Firefox, I would recommend it a few months ago too, but after trying all the browsers available (at least the most famous ones) I come to realize that the best browsers at the present day is Opera and Google Chrome.

Many of you may disagree with my opinion but that’s true, I have been using the 3rd version of Firefox and now I’m using the 3.5 version, I’ve thought there would be a huge difference in speed within the versions but nothing can be compared to the speed of Google Chrome, it launches faster than firefox, it’s faster to load videos on youtube and any other flash related website.

Maybe Firefox is slow because of its extensions or plug-ins, but I have tested either way, in safe mode (without any plug-in) and normal mode. Both ways it delayed to be launched and also to load videos.

About Safari, that may be good and fast in a MAC, but in a Windows PC it is heavy, slow and crashes a lot. At least that’s what happened here.

If you are a computer beginner I’m sorry for all the tech stuff, but what I recommend you to do is to use Google Chrome or Opera instead of Internet Explorer.

Click here to go to Google Chrome webpage and download it.

Click here to go to Opera’s webpage to download it.
